Sciton Moxi 1927nm laser manages dermal melasma and initial photodamage without significant social downtime.
Engineered specifically for pre-juvenation, melasma control, and post-inflammatory pigment correction across all skin tones. Controlled micro-fractional diode pulses refresh the superficial stratum corneum in 45 minutes at 130 North Tryon Street in Charlotte.
Pricing scales by energy level (Tier 1 preventative polish up to Tier 3 corrective melasma depth) and anatomical coverage (face alone vs. face and anterior neck). All face and neck laser treatments at SkinLuxes reside within the operator confirmed range of $385 to $1,880 USD.
Water absorption protects hyperactive melanocytes.
Melasma is an inflammatory pigment disorder. Aggressive heat triggers melanosome proliferation; 1927nm bypasses bulk thermal accumulation.
Treating facial melasma with traditional non-fractional lasers or high-heat light devices frequently results in severe rebound hyperpigmentation. Melanocytes located along the dermo-epidermal junction react aggressively to thermal shock by pumping excess melanin into basal cells.
The 1927nm diode laser operates on an entirely different physical principle. Its target chromophore is intracellular water, not melanin or hemoglobin. By depositing microscopic columns of thermal coagulation between 100 and 175 microns deep, it selectively destroys damaged keratinocytes carrying melanin pigment while keeping bulk heat below the threshold that triggers melanosome hyperactivity.
| Intensity Tier | Pulse Energy | Density % | Clinical Indication |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 (Polish) | 4 – 6 mJ | 5% Coverage | Preventative tone maintenance & texture smoothing |
| Tier 2 (Melasma Safe) | 8 – 10 mJ | 10% Coverage | Active epidermal melasma & post-inflammatory marks |
| Tier 3 (Corrective) | 12 – 15 mJ | 15% Coverage | Moderate solar lentigines & stubborn photodamage |
"With Moxi, our goal is not ablating the epidermis down to raw dermis. We deposit thousands of microscopic coagulation columns that dry up, form MENDs, and fall away over four days. It is predictable, low-stress skin clearance."Casey Finch, LE/LI • SkinLuxes Clinical Protocol
Full Face Moxi Protocol
$450 – $600Complete facial passes calibrated for melasma stabilization, enlarged pore refinement, or early fine-line prevention. Includes 20 minutes of mild pre-treatment topical numbing and immediate post-cooling with chilled air and biocellulose masks.
Face & Neck Dual Coverage
$600 – $750Extends non-ablative fractionated diode therapy down the cervical neckline to erase contrast lines between face and neck. Ideal for clients who have outdoor lifestyle exposure in North Carolina.
If your target is deep textural indentations or atrophic icepick scars, we recommend reviewing our Halo hybrid fractional laser which incorporates ablative 2940nm wavelengths. Conversely, if stubborn discrete brown spots are isolated without diffuse melasma, the Sciton BBL Hero photofacial delivers rapid photothermal clearance. We also integrate gentle superficial PCA Sensi chemical peels for clients preparing their skin barrier before laser sessions.
Clear protocol tiers without mystery pricing.
We do not sell vague laser packages. Every treatment has a confirmed energy setting, pass count, and price band.
The 45-minute treatment sequence.
From topical comfort preparation to precision optical tracking passes, here is what happens during a Moxi appointment.
The skin is cleansed with clinical surfactant to strip surface sebum. A mild compounded 4% lidocaine cream is applied for 20 minutes, followed by complete removal with sterile saline wipes.
Casey Finch guides the Moxi handpiece across the facial quadrants. Optical tracking sensors read the motion speed, firing fractionated diode pulses evenly without stacking or cold spots.
Chilled air is directed onto the skin to draw residual heat out of the dermal tissue. Pure mineral spring water and clinical hyaluronic serum replenish hydration.
A soothing barrier cream and pure zinc oxide mineral sunscreen are applied. You leave the clinic with clear aftercare instructions and post-procedure cleanser.
Clinical candidness on suitability and outcomes.
We will never recommend a laser procedure if an enzyme peel or medical topical regimen will achieve your goals with less cost.
