Clinical Protocol • Acne Intervention

Clinical acne correction requires directional follicle unroofing, ozone ionization, and dual-wave LED phototherapy.

We operate a disciplined, multi-stage protocol for comedonal and inflammatory acne in Uptown Charlotte. No aggressive fingernail squeezing; only sterile lancet relief, high-frequency microbial sterilization, and cellular light repair.

Clinical acne modalities and biological targets

Acne is a disease of the pilosebaceous unit. Our multi-stage intervention directly interrupts the four biological drivers: hyperkeratinization, sebum pooling, bacterial colonization, and follicular rupture.

Modality Stage Hardware & Instrument Target Pathogen / Tissue Clinical Outcome
Stage 1: Desincrustation Galvanic negative polarity & alkaline solution Solidified sebum plugs & microcomedones Saponifies hard fatty acids into water-soluble soap for easy clearing
Stage 2: Follicular Clearing Sterile 30G lancet & directional pressure Retention hyperkeratosis & closed comedones Vents impacted follicles without lateral tissue tearing or scarring
Stage 3: High-Frequency Argon gas high-frequency glass electrode Cutibacterium acnes (anaerobic bacteria) Releases transient ozone (O3) to sterilize deep follicular oxygen-free zones
Stage 4: Calibrated LED Dual-wavelength canopy (415nm & 830nm) Porphyrins & microvascular erythema Destroys porphyrin molecules via singlet oxygen; shuts down inflammatory redness
Eliminating anaerobic bacterial colonization
High-frequency ozone ionization

Cutibacterium acnes thrives solely in oxygen-depleted follicles choked by sebum. Passing a violet argon high-frequency electrode over open pores creates localized electrical spark discharges that transform atmospheric O2 into bio-cleansing ozone. This terminates bacterial replication without developing antibiotic resistance.

Dual-wave 415nm and 830nm phototherapy
Medical-grade canopy LED photobiomodulation

Blue light (415nm) excites endogenous coproporphyrin III produced by acne bacteria, inducing internal photo-destruction. Simultaneously, near-infrared light (830nm) penetrates 8mm into dermal fibroblasts, accelerating adenosine triphosphate (ATP) cellular synthesis to reduce post-extraction swelling.

Clinical practitioner experience in Charlotte

Treating active acne requires restrained medical technique. Mismanaged extractions drive infection deeper and leave lifelong pitted atrophic scars.

Strict Medical Lancet Technique
Parallel follicular alignment

We never press perpendicularly against closed skin. A sterile 30-gauge medical lancet enters the follicle opening strictly parallel to the natural hair canal. This tiny microscopic venting relief allows the keratinized plug to exit with minimal pressure, eliminating dermal tearing.

"Aggressive scrubbing and fingernail squeezing ruptures the follicle wall beneath the surface, spreading bacteria into healthy surrounding tissue. We open the pore channel surgically with a sterile lancet and let the impacted keratin roll out under calibrated lateral pressure."

The 60-minute acne clearing treatment sequence

A methodical multi-step protocol designed to soften plugs, extract impacted debris, sterilize the follicular field, and resolve inflammation.

Step 1: Chemical degrease & desincrustation (00–12 min)
Salicylic solution & negative galvanic current

We begin with a gentle 2% salicylic acid wash, followed by galvanic current desincrustation. This alkaline charge softens hardened keratinous sebum plugs, liquefying stubborn blackhead roots so they release without mechanical force.

Step 2: Sterile follicular lancet extraction (12–32 min)
Directional unroofing & gauze isolation

Casey systematically works through the forehead, nose, cheeks, chin, and jawline under 5500K dermatological exam lighting. Using individual sterile lancets and cotton-wrapped fingers, closed comedones and microcysts are cleared cleanly.

Step 3: High-frequency ozone sterilization (32–42 min)
Argon gas electrode spark discharge

A sterile high-frequency glass mushroom wand is passed across the freshly cleared skin. The violet electrical discharge releases nascent ozone directly into open follicles, sterilizing residual bacteria and promoting immediate cellular clotting.

Step 4: Dual-wave 415nm/830nm LED canopy (42–60 min)
Calibrated photobiomodulation & zinc repair balm

The client rests beneath our clinical LED light canopy with protective blackout eye goggles. 18 minutes of simultaneous blue and near-infrared light eliminates lingering porphyrins and subdues erythema. We finish with a cooling sulfur-clay spot mask and non-comedogenic physical zinc sunblock.

Contraindications, expectations, and honest boundaries

Understanding who this treatment supports and when alternative medical intervention is required.

Conditions successfully managed
Grade 1 to Grade 3 acne vulgaris

Exceptional for open comedones (blackheads), closed comedones (whiteheads), superficial papules, small pustules, and clogged textural congestion across the T-zone, cheeks, and jawline.

When we decline treatment or refer out
Medical contraindications

Grade 4 severe cystic nodular acne with interconnected draining sinus tracts requires systemic oral medications prescribed by a dermatologist. Individuals with cardiac pacemakers cannot receive high-frequency current. Current oral Accutane users must wait 6 months post-course.

Post-extraction recovery and erythema timeline
24 to 48 hours recovery window

Mild pinkness and slight pinpoint scabbing around deeply extracted pores is normal for 24 to 48 hours. Skin will not peel in large sheets. Active purging may occur 3 to 5 days post-session as deep microcomedones are accelerated to the surface.
